This summer, discover the inner workings of one of England’s grandest stately homes with a series of revealing ‘behind the scenes’ tours at Weston Park.
Take a step back in time on a guided tour that will give an unprecedented glimpse into the lives, both public and private, of the Victorian 3rd Earl of Bradford and his family, as well as the army of staff who also worked and lived in this bustling household.
In addition to exploring the grandeur of some of the public rooms, the tour will also take curious visitors through hidden corridors, up forgotten staircases and into fascinating parts of the house not usually seen by the public. This will include the Servants Hall where the staff would have eaten, which would have been the scene of much gossip and intrigue, the Stewards Room, Middle Drawing Room, Boudoir, Family Staircase and some of the 28 stunning bedrooms.
It’s the perfect opportunity to get under the skin of what live was like both ‘upstairs and downstairs at a real country estate, giving an insight into a subject which has provided ongoing inspiration for literature, television and film.
Visitors can follow their visit with a stroll around some of the estate’s stunning 1,000 acres of Capability Brown landscaped grounds.
‘Upstairs, Downstairs’ Tours at Weston Park take place on July 3rd, July 17th, July 31st, August 14th and August 28th 2016. Tours start at 12noon and 2pm and cost £5.50 per person in addition to standard admission, payable on the day.
