Dudley Adult and Community Learning are now offering classes for those interested in family history. The classes have been running for several years and from September 2014 will be moving to the new Adult and Community Learning facility, based at the new Dudley Archives.
The classes cater for those starting to research their family history and those with experience. In fact some people have been in the groups for more than 5 years and are still learning and making progress with their researches. The classes have a short “taught” session, followed by discussion and then time to work on their own research. They put quite a bit of emphasis on recording family history, as well as researching it, and encourage the group members to work on written projects related to their researches.
At the new base in the Archives they will be using laptops and have access to the library edition of Ancestry.com and other websites. The building has WIFI and, if they prefer, course members can bring their own laptops.
The courses run for 10 weeks starting early in September and again early in January.
They currently run 3 classes: Monday evening 1845-2045; Tuesday morning 1000-1200 and Tuesday afternoon 1300-1500.
