Siân Roberts is Curator of Collections at the new Library of Birmingham, and an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham’s School of Education. Siân has worked with Birmingham’s archive and local history collections since 1997 and has been involved in a number of local history projects including Connecting Histories. Most recently Siân was one of the curators of Children’s Lives, a major exhibition and website relating to the histories and experiences of childhood in Birmingham.
Siân completed her doctorate entitled Place, Life Histories and the Politics of Relief: Episodes in the Life of Francesca Wilson, Humanitarian Educator Activist at the University of Birmingham in 2010. Her research interests include the history of women activists in Birmingham and the West Midlands, particularly Quaker women and women involved in education, Birmingham Quakers and their participation in international humanitarian relief in the 20th century, the history of refugees, and the history of children in war.
