Izzy Mohammed is Birmingham born, bred and schooled. His own experiences and life-course have shaped his work and interests. He has specific and deep interest in supporting in the cultural and social development of the city, particularly to address challenging issues, practices and circumstances. Izzy has been working within cultural field since the early 1990’s and within the heritage sector since the 2000.
His journey has led him to graduate with an MA in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester in 2002, work as a trustee with the Group for Education in Museums (2006 – 2012), and on to his present role as an Audience Engagement Coordinator at Library of Birmingham in Centenary Square. In this post, he has had the opportunity to work within a progressive service, allowing him to develop innovative techniques and approaches for community engagement and development within cultural and heritage field, increasing access and opportunity for communities across the city, and developing the service for which he works.
